The Avs brought home their first victory against the NHL’s 32nd expansion team, the Seattle Kraken in a 7-3 win Friday night. The Avalanche has scored 24 goals in its last four games.
The Avalanche will meet the Senators next Dec. 4 on the squad’s upcoming five-game road trip.

Samuel Girard was part of the three-team trade with Nashville and Ottawa in November 2017… Avs assistant general manager Craig Billington played for the Senators for two seasons (1993-1995)… Cody Goloubef played 33 games with the Avs in the 2016-17 campaign… Ottawa head coach D.J. Smith played part of the 2002-03 season with the Avalanche.
The Avs own a 31-17-5 all-time franchise record against Ottawa and a 17-14-3 mark against the club since moving to Colorado in 1995. The Avalanche has edged out the Senators at home to earn a 10-5-2 record in Denver.
Nathan MacKinnon continues to be out for three weeks due to a lower-body injury. J.T. Compher will miss a month due to an upper-body injury. Rookie Bowen Byram remains in concussion protocol and will rejoin the group when he feels he is ready. Martin Kaut will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis, due to an upper body injury. Stefan Matteau continues to be out for weeks rehabbing a lower-body injury he suffered on Oct. 16th. Pavel Francouz remains out on a week-to-week basis.
SCOUTING THE SENATORS
Ottawa arrives in Denver with nine points under their belt and a 4-10-1 overall record in 15 games this season in the Eastern Conference.
The Senators have been facing a COVID-19 outbreak on their team, causing the postponement of their last three games. Ottawa had 10 players, plus an assistant coach test positive for COVID-19 in the past 10 days. Centers Drake Batherson and Josh Norris and defenseman Nikita Zaitsev are among the players out of the lineup due to COVID-19.
(OPPOSING) PLAYER TO WATCH: Matt Murray
Murray is expected to return to the crease for the Senators on Monday evening. The 27-year-old comes in with a 0-4-0 overall record to go along with a 3.10 GAA and .897 save percentage in five starts. Murray has allowed at least three goals in each of his last three starts while finishing 0-3-0with a 4.06 GAA during those contests.
Nazem Kadri extended his point streak to 8 games, the 2nd longest streak of his career and one shy of his career long (9 games with Toronto from Nov. 6-24, 2017).
The Avalanche have scored 24 goals in the last four contests, outsourcing the opposition 24-8.
The Avalanche played its first-ever game against Seattle, the sixth different expansion team to enter the league since the club moved to Denver in 1995. The Avs are now 4-2-0 in their first game against an expansion franchise.
